On on the 31st of December 2017, I had the spectacular yet unrealstic idea of doing the 100 Day Makeup Challenge but knew I couldn't complete it without pre planning it. So I decided to go for the 30 Day Makeup Challenge and start it on the 1st of January to motivate me to create much more colourful, fun looks to inspire me for the rest of the year.
Here is a closer look at some.......
My initial thought......
Now obviously when doing a daily challenge, you or 'I' should create something daily... separately.... but I can't with my schedule so I decided since I have 3 days off a week, I would make only ONE day a makeup day and spend the whole day playing around. Literally I would create 6-7 looks a DAY on ONLY my right eye.
One thing I imagined is that I had all these looks in mind, and it will be so easy to create but ohhh myyy was I wrong.
Not everything you imagine will come out as good as you think
I would imagine these AMAZING looks in my head with crystals, feathers and holographic glitter. But as soon as I create them , it just turns out a complete mess and would look like a 2 year old had just done my makeup.
Creating 6-7 looks a DAY, wiping and washing between each makeup to create a new one made my eye so painful and raw, I cannot express what I as feeling at that exact moment.
Thats one thing to keep in mind, when starting a challenge or anything in general that requires something to work on DAILY, its best to pre plan and pre prepare. One thing I should have done before hand is make at least 10 looks in advanced then start the challenge just incase I had to miss some days (which I did) and to make the process alot easier.
Where I got my inspiration from..
Now this was difficult. Most my inspiration was from Instagram from the more creative makeup artists and enthusiasts such as @makeupwithjah, @vladamua, @amrezy, @marioncameleon and even recreated a look by @linda_martinez_
I also did a routine of trying to use a completely different product each day that I haven't used yet in the challenge which was the difficult part, for example, I had used most of my eyeshadows by the 10th day and all I had left was a bright yellow eyeshadow and a shimmery green which to be honest I had no idea how to use but ended up using the bright yellow as a highlighter for a olive smokey eye.
By the 22nd day I literally had no more ideas and was completely lost, so I took out the big guns and opened up my nail art kit. Oh myyyy was that a great idea. My favourite look ended up with the one with all the nail art as the main focus.....
How I feel about this challenge..
Despite the troubles I ran into, I will have to admit that this challenge was the most fun and amazing experience I have ever gone through. I created looks that I hated not going to lie but this challenge made me try colours and techniques I never imagined myself using. It made me use different products each time I created something which led to me finding makeup products I didn't even know I had in my collection. And most importantly I finally felt the most satisfying feeling after creating each look and after finishing the LAST, 30TH LOOK, and uploading it. ahhhh the feeling is indescribable. I do 100% RECOMMEND every makeup artist, enthusiast, and makeup lover to try this challenge but also take in consideration of those things i mentioned previously
Do I have a favourite day?
Definitely day 30....
Don't know why, its the simplest look and took the least amount of time and effort to create but I love it the most.
